First and Last Day/Evening

I am only here a day. After getting to the room, taking a shower and resting a bit my first stop is the bar...... I ordered a "Painkiller" it had a lot of rum, pineapple juice and some other stuff. It took the edge off as I decided to take a little sun. A hour or so later I went looking for the beach. My ankle tendon and mostly my calf were hurting a bit but I had to see the fabulous seven mile beach sunset. Oh and of course have another drink.

It was a brief 10 minute walk across the street and through the magnificent Westin Hotel. The hotel at about 100 to 300 dollars (depending on the room/location)a night more than where I was staying had a prime beach location. The sun was a glowing red, just beginning to set. The sand is a beautiful white and the ocean calm and serene. There had to be a beach bar somewhere! After a little walking, I found the bar but it was closing up at 7pm time. The bartender agreed to make me a Piña Colada. I took my drink to one of the chairs sitting on the beach and watched the sun set. The drink was terrible. The thought that popped into my head as I took a sip was wow, I can't wait to get to the Hotel Nacional in Havana and have a real Piña Colada. However, watching the sun go down over the horizon and just realign was nice. It was not a magnificent sunset but it was a mood enhancer.

While I was sitting there with only my cell phone. I left most of the gear in the room. I started trying to take a self portrait photo. It was not going well and one of the three women sitting together laugh and asked me if I wanted her to take a photo. I said, sure that would be nice.

My next stop was for something to eat. I walked to the lobby and found the lobby bar at the Westin. I thought they should have a some good appetizers to eat. I was right, ordered a delicious crab cake but the price was wow, 16 bucks for one crab cake! Well at least it was better than the Piña Colada. My belly full, my pockets drained as I made my way back to the hotel to relax in the room. I would have loved to walk more but I wanted not to overdue it before Havana.

I hope I don't look too fat should have taken a deep breath....

 A bar buddy...
